The Artists in Residence program is an initiative of W&M Dance Projects supporting independent dance artists in the creation and development of their work.

We work with artists across all career stages and at any phase of their process—from early exploration to final production.

What the Program Offers

Residents receive:

• Financial support for creative projects

• Artistic mentorship and outside-eye feedback from established guest artists

• Professional consultation (2–4 hours annually) in grant writing and project/production development

• Workshops and lectures with guest artists

• Support in creating video reels and promotional materials at a reduced rate

This is not just about making work—it’s about building the capacity to sustain a practice.

Senior Artists in Residence

Senior artists are invited to contribute to the program through mentorship, feedback, classes, and workshops—sharing their knowledge and supporting the next generation of artists.

A Program That Evolves

Founded in 2008 as the Calgary Rehearsal Cooperative, the Artists in Residence program has been continually reimagined in response to the needs of Calgary’s dance community.

It grows as the community grows.
